  • Jim Click Automotive Team: The team donated $50,000 to World Care for hurricane-relief efforts in Houston, Florida and the Caribbean. The donation stems from the Jim Click Automotive Team’s “$50,000 Community Challenge” in which it pledged to match community donations up to $50,000.
  • UnitedHealthcare: UnitedHealthcare presented a $60,000 check to the University of Arizona’s 4-H Youth Development Program to address hunger and food insecurity by promoting food budgeting and nutrition education through the Food Smart Families program. This is part of a $1 million commitment by UnitedHealthcare to 4-H programs across the country in 2017.
  • Stromiga Partnership: The owners of Northgate Plaza Shopping Center, at the northeast corner of Grant Road and Alvernon Way, have donated the use of 11,700 square feet of retail space for a seasonal pop-up of the U.S. Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots holiday program. The space will be used for the collection and distribution of new toys for underprivileged children in the Tucson community, going into the holiday gift-giving season.
  • Raging Sage Coffee Roasters: For the 17th year, the local coffee shop at 2458 N. Campbell Ave., is hosting a Thanksgiving charity breakfast. The menu — donated by Gallery of Food Catering — includes mesquite smoked salmon with chipotle fruit salsa, in addition to the Sage’s brewed coffee, coffee drinks and teas.

The breakfast, held between 8 a.m. and noon on Thanksgiving day, is $25 per person, with proceeds supporting Heifer International, a nonprofit organization that helps families across the globe by supplying them with funds or agricultural means to support themselves and their families.
