Tucson Real Estate: Electric bike shop opens at St. Philip's Plaza

A new electric bike store has rolled into town with a wide variety of bikes for sale and rent.

Co-owners James and Rachele Lorentzen leased 1,657 square feet for the Pedego Electric Bikes shop at 4340 N. Campbell Ave., suite 107B.

This is the first licensed dealership in Southern Arizona for the international company.

“I wanted the next chapter of my career to be something I felt passionate about,” James Lorentzen said. “This makes biking fun again.”

The store has about 12 models that riders can use as regular bikes, pick from five levels of pedal assistance or use the throttle.

The bikes are particularly popular with baby boomers, James said.

Rental prices begin at $30 for two hours and the bikes can be rented weekly with free delivery and pickup.

The cost to buy them starts at $2,350.

Pedego provides customer support and service.

“This demographic likes bricks and mortar and having someone to talk to when something goes wrong,” he said.

The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day except Tuesdays, when it is closed.

It is one of 30 new Pedego shops that will open in the U.S. this year.

  • Jeffrey S. Little, of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, bought the 16,830-square-foot building at 6420 E. Broadway from Wilmot 310 LLC for $2.5 million. It is leased by DaVita Kidney Care. Jon O’Shea, Rob Fischrup and Eric Lamb, with Vast Commercial Real Estate Solutions, brokered the sale.
  • The Institute for Better Education bought a 3,710-square-foot building at 921 N. Swan Road from Pyramid Federal Credit Union for $440,000. The seller was represented by Nancy McClure, with CBRE, and the buyer was represented by Harvey Mordka Realty.
  • Old Pueblo Fitness leased 3,534 square feet at JoAnn’s Center on Broadway near Kolb Road. Andy Seleznov and Melissa Lal represented the landlord, Larsen Baker, and Derrick Sinclair, of Terramar Properties Inc., represented the tenant.
  • Go Wireless Inc., doing business as Verizon Wireless, leased 2,200 square feet in the Shoppes at Continental Ranch, at the southeast corner of Twin Peaks and Silverbell road. Craig Finfrock and Zach Morgan, of Commercial Retail Advisors LLC, represented the landlord, Shoppes at Continental Ranch LLC. The tenant was represented by Bonnie Arlia and Brian Gast, of Velocity Retail Group.
  • Bayleaf Foods LLC leased 1,253 square feet at 5420 E. Broadway to open Fruitshack Smoothies and Yogurt. Jeramy Price, of Volk Co., represented the tenant, and Andy Seleznov, Melissa Lal, and George Larsen, of Larsen Baker, represented the landlord.
  • Goddess Lashes leased 1,200 square feet at 4514 E. Broadway from Midstar Plaza LLC. The landlord was represented by Nancy McClure, of CBRE, and the tenant was represented by Kevin Volk, of Volk Co.
  • Ken and Jessica Sprague, doing business as Stained Purity Tattoo, leased 1,200 square feet at 6781 N. Thornydale Road from SCG-Northpointe LLC. Kevin Volk and Jeramy Price, of Volk Co., handled the lease.
