Tucson came in No. 8 in a list of the top 10 most affordable cities near wine country.
The list was compiled by national real estate company Redfin and Food & Wine, which crunched numbers that included vineyard acres, wineries and most affordable housing per square foot based on median selling prices.
The report tapped Tucson because of its proximity to the growing wine regions of Willcox and Sonoita. And it specifically named Callaghan Wineries in Sonoita as a must visit destination because of vintner Kent Callaghan's French varietals like Mourvèdre and Petite Sirah.
Sacremento, California, topped the list, followed by Portland, Oregon; Bothell, Washington; Livermore, California; Leesburg, Virginia; Austin, Texas, and its Texas Hill Country wine region; and Long Island, New York.
Temecula, California, and Philadelphia came in at Nos. 9 and 10.
