"The Other Network" is a touring two-night festival of the best, or maybe the worst, un-aired television pilots.
The touring festival will stop at the Loft Cinema, 3233 E. Speedway, on Wednesday and Thursday.
Each of the fully produced but never aired episodes includes an introductory clip from the auteurs. Among the creators of these six pilots are Ben Stiller, Robert Smigel, Judd Apatow and Bob Odenkirk. Odenkirk, who should win an Emmy for playing the smart, slimy lawyer on "Breaking Bad," made a sarcastic sketch show called "Next!" that featured Fred Armisen, Patton Oswalt, Ray Romano and, of course, Odenkirk.
"Next!" will be shown along with two other pilots on Wednesday, and Thursday's lineup boasts "Heatvision & Jack," Stiller's comedy about a hyperintelligent ex-astronaut (Jack Black, above) and his talking motorcycle (voiced by Owen Wilson). Both programs start at 7:30 p.m., and admission is $8 each night or $14 for both nights.
Your host for the evening is the curator, Beth Lapides, who will perform her show "100 percent Happy, 88 Percent of the Time" next Saturday at Club Congress.
