The look: Traditional with hints of classical elements that fit in a Spanish, Mediterranean or Tuscan style.
The place: Chriswell Classic Leather & Design Gallery, 250 N. Pantano Road, 731-3030.
The designer: Rosie Wells, store co-owner with husband Larry.
The concept: Large, dark pieces in leather and wood tilt a room to a more masculine feel. Smaller, colorful pieces and accessories soften the feel toward a feminine aesthetic.
1. This 8-foot-tall, 12-foot-long entertainment center and curio cabinet proves you need not fear large pieces. Its size, along with its artful columns and glass, could become the focal point in a room that needs one.
2. Glass can define a style for a room. The seeded glass offers an antique look, a cue to include old and Old World pieces in the cabinet.

3. This tassel on the entertainment center's door knob and the colorful runner on its open shelf reinforce the traditional look while softening the piece. Wells says they make it look "homier."
4. The French chair with its cheetah-print back adds surprise to an otherwise monochromatic color scheme. Its smaller size provides a feminine touch. The back actually is hair-on-hide leather dyed in a cheetah pattern.
5. A delicate glass table with flowing lines provides more softness to the room. It can be easily moved around as needs dictate.
6. Embossed leather on this end table adds another texture to the room. The twisted spindles keep the piece in the traditional style.
7. While a torchiere's main function is to provide light upward, this particular piece primarily acts as art, adding more color and offering a formal look to the room.
8. Wells says she avoids strict rules about how to hang large pictures over furniture, preferring instead to go with what she feels is comfortable.
