A University of Arizona golfer has been jailed in Phoenix on suspicion of sexual assault.

Andrew Garner, 20, was booked by Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday, according to the office's booking records.

Garner made his UA debut as a redshirt freshman last season, and finished as high as 50th while playing in a handful of tournaments. Garner played at Phoenix Country Day School, where he won the Class 3A state tournament in 2014.

Garner has been suspended indefinitely from the team, the UA said Wednesday night.

“The athletics department was notified earlier today of an issue regarding Andrew Garner,” a spokesman said in a statement released to the Star and other news outlets. “As a result, Andrew has been suspended indefinitely.”
