Two women were arrested in connection to robberies of elderly women on the northwest side, authorities said August 19.

Jacina Flemons, 23, turned herself in to authorities and is facing robbery, theft of a credit card, fraudulent use of a credit card and taking the identity of another person, said Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman, Dep. Ryan Inglett.

Tips and search warrants led detectives to the arrest of Kenya June, 19, who is facing armed robbery, aggravated robbery, robbery, theft of a credit card, fraudulent use of a credit card and taking the identity of another person, Inglett said.

Both Flemons and June were booked into the Pima County jail.

On Aug. 14, deputies responded shortly before 9 p.m. to the 2300 block of West Ruthrauff Road and learned that an elderly woman had just returned home from shopping when she was confronted by a man with a gun who demanded money, officials said.

The robber took the woman's wallet and left in a vehicle with two other occupants. Her credit cards were used within the hour at a Walgreens, CVS and Carl's Jr.

On Aug. 17, deputies were called at about 8:30 p.m. to the 4500 block of West Calle Marco, near West Ina Road and North Camino de Oeste. An elderly woman told them that she was getting her mail after returning home from the store when she was approached by a black sports utility vehicle occupied by two women who asked for directions.

While the victim was distracted, the passenger got out of the vehicle and grabbed the victim's purse from her arm. She was overpowered and fell to the ground, hitting her head.

Her credit card was used a short time later at a nearby Walmart.
