A Tucson woman remains in critical condition Friday morning after she was hit by a pickup as she was riding a horse across an East Side road Thursday evening, an official said.
The 46-year-old woman was riding her horse across South Harrison Road, near East Peña Drive, from the west side to the east side of the road when she was struck by a northbound Ford F-150 about 6:10 p.m., said Sgt. Fabian Pacheco, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.
The horse died at the scene and the woman was airlifted to a hospital, Pacheco said.
The driver, a man, remained at the scene and was not seriously injured, he said.
It doesn’t appear that any citations will be issued to the man driving the pickup, Pacheco said.
