Justice Department report tracks sexual victimization in nation's prisons

A report the Bureau of Justice Statistics released Thursday tracks reported incidents of sexual violence in the country's prisons and jails.

"Survey Of Sexual Violence In Adult Correctional Facilities, 2009–11" shows statistics of inmate-on-inmate sexual violence and prison staff-on-inmate violence.

Interesting to note, the number of allegations, nationwide, made against staffers in 2011 exceeded those made against fellow inmates.

In all, 3,223 allegations were made against staffers, with 252 substantiated. Allegations made against fellow inmates totaled 3,030 with 294 substantiated.
