Three graduating seniors have been selected to receive the Cecilia Avalos Scholarship, which recognizes students who participated in the Parent and Child Education program.
The PACE program is offered in the Tucson Unified School District. The winners are:
- America Valencia of University High School will receive $3,000 to attend Pima Community College. She plans to study American Sign Language to become an interpreter and work with the deaf community.
- Victoria Villanueva of City High School will receive $3,000 to attend a combination program at the UA and Pima Community College, with a major in engineering.
- Jessica Marie Gonzales of Cholla Magnet High School will receive $4,000 to study entrepreneurship at the UA.
