A story about a Tucson cardiologist's raw food seminar that ran in the Star last week had an overwhelming response.
Dr. Salvatore J. Tirrito says he had to switch locations for last Monday's seminar to allow for more people, but had to cap attendance at 100. To accommodate people who were turned away, he scheduled another seminar for Sept. 17 and that is already full.
He's got two more seminars set for October and November.
"It was exciting to see how many people are not happy with the staus quo and looking to changing their lives in a positive way," said Tirrito, who works at Pima Heart Associates, and is the author of the book, "So you are fat, now what?"
Tirrito uses a quotation from Thomas Edison to explain his philosophy:
"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest her or his patients in the care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease."
