Border Patrol agents seized more than 4 tons of bundled marijuana worth about $2.2 million hidden in a semi-truck and livestock trailer near Whetstone on Wednesday night.
At about 8 p.m., agents at a checkpoint on Arizona 90 were notified by other agents about a suspicious tractor-trailer rig that was heading their way.
When the rig arrived at the checkpoint, agents noticed that ventilation holes in the upper compartments of the cattle trailer were plugged. They checked the compartments and found 188 bundles of marijuana and a pistol.
The driver was arrested. The rig, drugs and gun were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
