Man shooting car windows of NW side motorists sought

Deputies are looking for a man who is shooting out car windows with a BB gun as motorists drive on the northwest side.

So far two incidents have been reported, Deputy Tracy Suitt, a spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, said in a news release Friday. The shooter’s car is described as a black Honda or Hyundai sports coupe. The car’s LED lights have a blue tint.

The first incident occurred just after 11 p.m. Sept. 24, near the intersection of West Magee Road and North La Cholla Boulevard.

The victim and his passenger were driving westbound on Magee approaching La Cholla when the black coupe pulled up on their right side.

Thinking it was someone they knew, the two victims were about to wave when they realized they didn’t know the driver of the coupe, Suitt said. Then they heard a loud bang and saw their rear window had been shot out.

The black coupe sped off westbound on Magee. The victims described the driver as “a scruffy looking Asian man, wearing a red shirt and a black ball cap,” Suitt said.

The second incident occurred at about 1:45 a.m. Sept. 29, near the intersection of West Orange Grove Road and North Oracle Road.

The victim was driving northbound on Oracle approaching Orange Grove when a black sports car pulled up on the right side. The victim’s passenger side window shattered and the black car sped off eastbound on Orange Grove.

Anyone with information about these incidents should call 911, 88-CRIME, or Det. Nicholas Norris at 351-6243.
