A routine beer skip at a southside convenience store turned into a robbery when a security guard was hit in the head by the door, authorities said.

Deputies are looking for three men wanted in connection with the robbery, which occurred shortly before 11 p.m. on June 26, according to a Pima County Sheriff's Department news release.

One of the store's two security guards encountered the suspects shortly after they entered the Circle K in the area of South Palo Verde Road and East Milton Road. One of the men stayed near the front while the other two went to the cooler and took four cases of beer before all three ran towards the front door.

A second security guard saw the suspects and tried to stop them from leaving, using the door to block their escape.

The men dropped the beer and forced open the door, which hit the guard in the head as it swung open. The suspects were seen fleeing the area in a Tahoe or Escalade-type SUV, the release said.

  • The first man was about 5'5" with a medium build, wearing a while T-shirt, tan pants and a white baseball cap with dark lettering.
  • The second suspect was approximately 5'6" with a thin build, wearing a dark tank top and dark pants.
  • The last man was about 6'1", wearing a black shirt and dark jeans.
