DCCC sends CD1/CD2 Republican congressional candidates a copy of the Ryan budget

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is sending a present to four Republican congressional candidates here in Arizona.

One thing is for certain - it wasn't on any of their Amazon Wish Lists. (Also, it isn't available on

The "D-trip" sent Congressional District 2 candidate Martha McSally and Congressional District 1 candidates Andy Tobin, Adam Kwasman and Gary Kiehne the so-called Ryan budget.

The Republicans have largely shied away from allegations tying their support to the controversial budget proposal made by the DCCC, with several candidates saying they haven't had time to read the massive proposal.

So on Tuesday, the DCCC sent each of them a copy by mail.

Josh Schwerin of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said the copy should allow CD2 candidate McSally to answer questions about her support for the budget.

“Martha McSally is throwing out a lot of excuses about why she won’t weigh in on the Washington Republican budget – but now she can finally stop hiding because she will have a copy at her fingertips,” said Schwerin. “In 102 simple pages, this budget lays out in gory detail how it stacks the deck for special interests while raising costs on people who have to work for a living – now all McSally has to do is read it and come clean about how she would vote.”

From the cover letter included with the 102-page Ryan budget:

Dear Martha McSally:

We know you want to be part of Republicans in Congress, but we heard you weren’t sure about how you would vote on their central idea: the Republican budget that stacks the deck for special interests at the expense of hardworking families. We enclosed a copy for your convenience, so that you can finally get back to the people of Arizona on your position.
