"He did a lot of things to help minorities and all people and the United States," she said. "He showed us that everyone is equal, and it doesn't matter what color your skin is."
King's work made the world a better place — something Sandoval said she wants to do with her life.
"I would ask him where he got the courage to do what he did and if he was scared at all," she said.
What books are you reading now? "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" — the seventh and final book in the series.
"I've read all the books and seen all the movies," she said. "I've asked people not to tell me the ending. I don't want anyone to spoil it for me."
Whom do you admire most? Her parents, Sandoval said.
"I see how they work so hard to make sure me and my sisters and my brother have what they didn't have," she said.
Sandoval has two younger sisters and a younger brother.
Plans after high school: College. "I'm still trying to decide between being some type of lawyer or being a family counselor," she said.
Dream job: "Anything that would make me happy and where I could help out people at the same time," she said.
Dream car: Ford Mustang convertible, any year.

Sandoval also likes to bake cookies and cupcakes.
Vouch: "She's always looking for ways to help people," her father said. "I think it's the best thing in the world.
"You don't hear many teenagers who know they want to go to college and know they want to help people with their career, but that's her."
