The Knights of Columbus begin their annual Tootsie Roll drive today at grocery stores and Wal-Marts throughout Tucson to raise money for people with mental disabilities.
Knights from more than 20 councils will be collecting donations through Saturday in exchange for big Tootsie Rolls.
They will be in front of "just about every" Albertsons, Fry's, Food City, Bashas' and Wal-Mart in Tucson, said Frank Ballesteros, Grand Knight for St. Odilia Council 6933.
The Knights will be easy to spot — dressed in bright yellow aprons with red lettering.
"They'll be out en masse starting Friday. You can't miss those bright yellow aprons," Ballesteros said.
Seventy-five percent of the donations will go toward local non-profits that work with people who have mental disabilities. The Tootsie Roll drive has raised more than $4.2 million in Arizona since it began in 1974, Ballesteros said.
