The Salvation Army will open its overnight shelters tonight and through the holiday weekend because of cooler temperatures and expected rain.
Wednesday night marked the ninth night for Operation Deep Freeze this season, said Tamara McElwee, a Salvation Army spokeswoman.
People in need of a place to sleep should go to The Salvation Army Hospitality House, 1021 N. 11th Ave, after 3 p.m. where they can receive a warm meal, take a warm shower and spend the night, McElwee said.
Temperatures are expected to be in the low-30s Thursday night with a 30 percent chance of rain and in the mid-30s Christmas Eve.
Several hundred people are expected to seek shelter every night from now through Dec. 25, McElwee said.
