Police officers in Nogales, Sonora, are focusing on arresting Americans who go to the city to fill fake prescriptions for the following drugs:
Diazepam
More commonly known as Valium, a tranquilizer.
Alprazolam
Commonly known as Xanax, an anti-anxiety drug.
Codeine
A sedative and pain reliever.
Oxycodone
More commonly known as OxyContin, a narcotic painkiller.
U.S. drug rules
Federal law generally permits importation of a 90-day supply of approved prescription drugs for personal use with a valid U.S. or Mexican prescription. The prescription drugs must be lawfully obtained, in their original container and the bearer must declare them upon entry to the United States.
