CBP in Nogales: Drugs found in Xbox console, baby formula container

Customs officers in Nogales seized more than 3 pounds of meth found hidden inside an Xbox gaming console.

On Sept. 15, officers at the Morley pedestrian crossing sent a 16-year-old Nogales, Sonora, teen for further questioning when he attempted to cross into the U.S. Officers found the drugs after a service dog alerted to the gaming system, according to a news release from Customs and Border Protection.

The drugs were worth about $10,000. The teen was turned over to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.

In another unusual seizure, officers on Sept. 13 found $50,000 worth of heroin hidden in a container of powdered baby formula.

Officers at the Morley crossing referred a woman, who was traveling with her 2-year-old son, for further inspection as she tried to cross. During a search, officers found three pounds of packaged heroin in the container.

The child was turned over to family members. The 31-year-old woman from Nogales, Sonora, was turned over to ICE's Homeland Security Investigations.
