  • Updated

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents await the start of a news conference to give details in the seizure of more than seven tons of marijuana at a Nogales border crossing in January 2013.

Federal agents in Nogales today showed off about 14,000 pounds of marijuana that’s believed to be the largest pot seizure at an Arizona border crossing.

The more than seven tons of marijuana was intercepted Jan. 15 at the commercial truck crossing in Nogales, authorities said. It was hidden in the tractor trailer shipment.

The street value of the shipment is estimated at between $7 million and $12 million.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is holding a news conference this morning to give details of the bust.
