The Pima County Sheriff's Department identified the man killed Tuesday night in a high-speed crash on the South Side.
James Lee Connor, 22, of Tucson was killed when his car slammed into a pickup truck about 7 p.m. at East 36th Street and South Palo Verde Road, said Deputy Dawn Hanke, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman.
Connor was speeding eastbound on 36th Street in a green Honda when he collided with a white Chevrolet S-10 pickup that was turning left onto Palo Verde Road, Hanke said.
The driver of the pickup, a 44-year-old woman, didn't realize how fast Connor was driving, Hanke said.
Connor was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Hanke said.
The woman, her 54-year-old husband and a 4-year-old child were in the pickup truck. None suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision. Hanke initially said the child was 5 years old.

No citations have been issued and the investigation is ongoing, Hanke said.
