A 47-year old special education teacher faces sexual conduct charges for having a relationship with a relative who is a minor, police said.
Christine Mazzarella, a teacher at Lineweaver Elementary School, was arrested Wednesday at her home by detectives with the child sexual assault unit, said Sgt. Chris Widmer, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.
Mazzarella was booked into the Pima County jail on four counts of sexual conduct with a minor, said Widmer.
Widmer said there is no indication that Mazzarella was involved in sexual misconduct at Lineweaver, 461 S. Bryant Ave. The school is in a neighborhood south of East Broadway and west of South Columbus Boulevard.
Tucson Unified School District spokeswoman, Cara Rene, could not be reached for comment Wednesday night.
Earlier this month, detectives received information that Mazzarella was having sexual relations with a child who is a relative, Widmer said.
