Tucson's Basis Charter School has managed to once again land itself in the top 10 of Newsweek's best high schools in the country.
The school, which has received numerous accolades, ranked sixth on the 2010 list after taking fifth place last year and first in 2008.
Despite seeing a drop in placement, Basis was the top-ranked Arizona school.
Also ranking prominently on the list was the Tucson Unified School District's University High School at No. 24.
Newsweek selects the high schools based on how hard school staffs work to challenge students with Advanced Placement college-level courses and tests.
Just over 1,600 schools - only 6 percent of all U.S. public schools - made the list.
Other Tucson-area schools that received recognition on the Newsweek list include the Sonoran Science Academy at No. 173 and Amphitheater's Canyon del Oro High School, which placed at No. 1,571.
