About 3,500 participants from the military and first responder communities participated in this years 9/11 Tower Challenge at The Tucson Convention Center in Tucson, Ariz. on Sept. 11th, 2021.
This years 10th annual 9/11 tower challenge, which honors the 20th anniversary of 9/11, was "without question the largest group," said Ben Beuhler-Garcia, Vice President of The 9/11 Tower Challenge Foundation.
Participants accepted the challenge to climb 2,071 steps, the equivalent number as the World Trade Towers, to honor the citizens and first responders who lost their lives in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Over the past decade, the 9/11 Tower Challenge Foundation has raised more than $300,000 for organizations that support military and first responder communities. This years beneficiaries are the Gary Sinise Foundation and the 100 Club of Arizona.
The keynote speaker was Matthew Rosenberg, an Army Medic assigned to the Pentagon two weeks prior to the attacks.
