About 80% of the Pride of Arizona Marching Band began in-person instruction on Monday, Sept. 28, 2020, with coronavirus safety in mind. While some students participated in online instruction, most students were in-person for band practice. Members were required to wear masks and keep a safe distance from each other. All instruments in the winds section, except piccolos, have protective bell covers, said Chad Shoopman, director of athletics bands at the University of Arizona.

Pac-12 football teams will begin a seven-game conference schedule on November 6. However, the conference has decided to not allow bands, pomline, colorguard, twirlers, cheerleaders and mascots in the stadiums for games, according to Shoopman.

"We are working on alternate plans for game days and there is petition going around to encourage the conference to reconsider its decision," he added.  Link to the petition
