Tucson cycling program seeks kids interested in health, riding

  • Updated

The Jr. El Tour Youth Cycling Program is looking for a 2014 team of girls and boys, ages 10-12, who are interested in cycling and improving their health.

Priority will be given to children who are in need, overweight, underactive, or at risk for health problems.

Kids learn cycling techniques, safety, sports nutrition, and exercise in a fun and supportive environment. Training sessions are 3 timer per week for the first 12 weeks, culminating in a 40-mile ride in El Tour de Tucson bicycle event in November.

All equipment is provided (including bikes), which the children may earn in the 3 month follow-up program.

Jr. El Tour is a non-profit program of Perimeter Bicycling supported by grants and donations, and participation is free for those accepted into the program.

Apply before July 18th on-line at or call 222-7838 or 490-5979. Classes will start Aug 19th.
