Photos for April 23: Tucson gets by during Coronavirus Pandemic

Tucson area residents and businesses grapple with closures, restrictions, shortages and sundry challenges during coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Among the bright spots this week: Artists still working and creating, UA med students tending to the homeless, food donations to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona and healthcare workers, and bike shops keeping busy with customers wanting to get out and exercise.


Staff photographer at the Arizona Daily Star. Previously at the Casper Star-Tribune in Wyoming and the Savannah Morning News in Georgia. Honored with numerous awards including those by the NPPA and two time Wyoming photographer of the year.


Rebecca Sasnett is a photojournalist for the Arizona Daily Star. From 2015-2019, she was a freelance photographer for clients such as Arizona Athletics and various magazines. She graduated from the University of Arizona.
