ELOY— Officials with a privately run prison near Eloy were investigating a riot at the Red Rock Correctional Center.
Staff has identified 43 inmates who are believed to have been involved in the incident, a news release issued Friday by Corrections Corporation of America says.
The prison was locked down and inmates were in administrative segregation pending further investigation and appropriate disciplinary action.
A total of 10 inmates were injured and seven inmates were transported to offsite medical for treatment of injuries. One inmates remains hospitalized for a non-life threatening injury. There were no staff injuries.
About 110 inmates are housed in the area in which the altercation occurred.
