On Friday, July 17, 2015 at 6 p.m., crews will close the intersection of Houghton Road and 22nd Street the City of Tucson said in media release. The initial plan to upgrade the water lines at the intersection called for three weeks' worth of work that would close various travel lanes at various times.

By completely closing the intersection, crews will be able to expedite the improvements and complete the work in three days rather than three weeks.

The intersection is scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday, July 20, 2015. Electronic message boards will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming closure.
