I am a white man, born in August of 1944. I am ashamed today as I view the videos of my white sisters and brothers, young and old, excitedly chanting racist slurs with eyes wild with excitement. I am further shamed that white GOP representatives stood on the sidelines in North Carolina smiling and clapping their hands. My grandparents and parents did not raise me to act in either way.
