As a TUSD parent with two children with special needs and spouse to a TUSD special education teacher, my family was delighted to see the Star's endorsement of Leila Counts to the TUSD Board. We have decided to forgo the option to vote for two and have decided to just vote for Leila. Both incumbents have had their opportunity to make a difference and improve the educational quality in TUSD and I can say that when it comes to TUSD's special education programs — they have failed.

Leila Counts is the only candidate that's a K-12 educator and TUSD parent. Being both an educator and TUSD parent gives her a greater understanding of the issues facing two very important constituent groups. We know she will prioritize meeting the needs of all TUSD children and will end the culture of non-compliance of federal laws and IEPs.
