This well organized marijuana smuggling operation from Mexico blatantly showed how open the Tohono O'Odham reservation is to smugglers, both on foot back packers and vehicles. This has been going on for years. The smuggling usually involves some residents on the reservation temporarily stashing marijuana loads at their houses. Despite all of this, the TO refuses to allow any border wall to built, claiming it would impede its residents from border traveling to visit relatives in MX. That is non-sense as they normally travel by vehicle, not by foot.

The term "HSI" agents was used in the Star's report. That refers to Homeland Security Investigations, which under Obama, replaced ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agents. I believe done for political reasons, to reflect the administration's pro-illegal immigrant policies. Smuggling involves Immigration and Customs violations, The FBI takes the lead in investigating "homeland security" terrorism cases, not HSI.
