Thank you for putting the article about the Vail BoxerBots and their captain, Trinity Peters, on the front page of the Star. Teen leaders like Trinity deserve the attention of the community, and programs like the BoxerBots and the other FIRST Robotics teams in Tucson have been producing our future engineers, scientists, and business leaders for a number of years.
As the founding sponsor of the Vail BoxerBots, I know the hard work and hours of time these students put into not only building the robot each year, but also into raising community awareness about STEM careers and the importance of staying in school. These students (many earning scholarships) will go on to universities and continue their impact in the community. “Nerds” can and do make a difference in their community and deserve recognition as much as students who excel in athletics.
Good job, Trinity - we need more leaders like you. Go BoxerBots!
