As I have written a number of times, opinion writers like Dr. Vint always cherrypick their favorite statistics. One of these is water: Rosemont will pump 4.8 millions of gallons per day (5500 acre-feet/year). There is a something amiss: the pecan growers below the proposed mine pump 30,000 acre-feet/year. As some said , we use copper every day driving our cars but do not eat pecans every day. Perhaps growing pecans is what Dr. Vint means by "environmental economy." There is no free lunch.
