The column by Liz Weston on choosing a financial adviser indicates the potential for fraud. However, few advisers beat the Market over the long term. A better bet is investing in index funds from Vanguard or Fidelity, and if a similar amount is regularly invested, one has the advantage of dollar-cost averaging.
