I love Tucson. That's why I serve in the faith community and in education. I am voting no on Proposition 305 because I love our unique community and because I value public education.
Prop. 305 is being pushed by out-of-state dark money privatization advocates, to expand Arizona’s ESA voucher program beyond the special needs children it’s designed to help. They want Arizona taxpayers to fund two separate education systems, one where children can be discriminated against based on their religion, sexual orientation, or race and one for everyone else.
All this while we are struggling to fund the public schools we have. I find this morally repugnant and a terrible investment.
Tucson needs to raise and attract talented people to work in our hospitals, university, and businesses. If Prop. 305 passes it will allow private and parochial schools to recruit out of our public system to subsidize their personal expenses. Prop. 305 is a bad deal for Tucson. I am voting "no" to protect our community.
