Sen. Flake, as a higher education administrator I oversee personnel who investigate reports of sexual misconduct and harassment. While our responsibility involves fact finding in an effort to determine if "it is more likely than not" that the accused engaged in violating administrative policies, we witness the impact of these situations on the victim/survivor.
Some are so traumatized that they leave the University, fail courses, engage with counseling due to anxiety and depression, etc. They are rarely restored or whole. I am writing to thank you for seeing and hearing Dr. Ford and the women outside of the elevator. Thank you for doing your job as a member of Congress, including partnering "across the aisle." Thank you for seeking an FBI investigation. Thank you for demonstrating how and when to take risks.
