On Dec. 9, Tucson East Elks Lodge #2532 played host to 75 children from Steele Elementary School with a shopping trip to Kmart on Broadway. Each child was accompanied by an adult volunteer. Each child received about $100 in new clothes, including shoes and winter jackets. Then it was off to Peter Piper Pizza for food and games.

The volunteers were made up of lodge members and spouses, teachers, friends of members and, for the first time, about 20 employees of Costco Store 407 on Grant Road. Then on Dec. 16, the same group of volunteers packed and delivered 100 food baskets to basically the same needy families in the community. All funds were raised by lodge members with events throughout the year. This is the 30th year the lodge has put on these events. Our slogan is "Elks Care-Elks Share"
