The Arizona Wildcats baseball team scored seven unanswered runs to erase a three-run deficit and defeat Portland 8-4 on Saturday at Hi Corbett Field.
Arizona (14-4) fell behind 4-1, but began to chip away in the sixth inning with a solo home run from Bobby Dalbec. The Wildcats tied it with two runs in the seventh, then took the lead with a four-run eighth. Zach Gibbons’ safety-squeeze bunt brought Sawyer Gieseke home with the go-ahead run.
• The UA men’s swimming team took fourth place Saturday at the Pac-12 championships in Federal Way, Washington, as Kevin Cordes finished third in the 200-yard breast stroke and the Wildcats’ 400 freestyle relay team captured third. USC (818.5) won the title, followed by Stanford (809.5), Cal (673) and UA (508).
• UA freshman Krystal Quihuis had a two-stroke lead after two rounds at the SunTrust Gator Women’s Golf Invitational in Gainesville, Florida. She shot an even 70 in the second round to move to 3-over 143. The Wildcats had a 10-over 290 Saturday to take an 11-stroke lead.
• The Arizona Wildcats men’s tennis team lost 4-2 to Southern Miss on Saturday in Corpus Christi, Texas.
