Former University of Arizona player Antoine Cason, who now plays for the NFL with the San Diego Chargers, laughs with fans during the game.

Former Arizona Wildcats star Antoine Cason is headed back to the state where he shined as a college player.

Cason, who won the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's best defensive back for the Wildcats in 2007, reached an agreement on a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals this afternoon, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reported on Twitter.

Cason was drafted in the first round of the 2008 NFL draft by the San Diego Chargers and spent the first five years of his NFL career with the franchise. The cornerback has never missed a game in his five-year career and has 12 total interceptions.

He had 73 tackles and two picks for the Chargers last season.
