Arizona Wildcats football: Carey files paperwork to NFL draft advisory board

  • Updated

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Ka'Deem Carey turned into Ka'Disney Carey tonight at Disney's Boardwalk Hotel, where he arrived in advance of tomorrow's Doak Walker Award presentation.

The UA's All-American running back spent close to an hour chatting with reporters along with several other athletes up for a variety of awards at tomorrow's Home Depot College Football Awards Show.

Carey spoke with the Star about the decision he faces on whether or not to declare for the NFL draft. The running back told us he filed his paperwork to the NFL draft advisory board to see where he's projected to be picked and will wait to see what the results are before making a final decision.

"First round, second round, that's comfortable stuff you can't pass up," Carey said. "Anything after that I think you have to get your degree. There's a lot of things boiling in the pot affecting my decision."

The running back said he would definitely wait until after the AdvoCare V100 Bowl on Dec. 31 to make his decision. He said he's been consulting with his mom, coach Rich Rodriguez and UA running backs coach Calvin Magee the most on his decision.

Carey said being left out as a Heisman finalist may influence his decision.
