Marana Football Practice

It's odd to think, but Sabino could find itself on the outside of the Division III playoff picture looking in with a loss on Friday night. The Sabercats (7-1) had a bye last week and haven't played since a 3-0 loss to Catalina Foothills two weeks ago.

Sabino's challenge: Stopping the steaming locomotive that Marana had been.

Star readers thought the win-or-go home drama between the Sabercats and Tigers is too good to miss, as the matchup won the fan voting with 56 percent of the votes.

The Tigers (6-3) could clinch a postseason berth for the first time since the 2007 season with a victory tonight. Marana has already topped Catalina Foothills this season, so maybe they can pull off another upset.

Marana hasn't skipped a beat since junior quarterback Conner Leavens went down with an injury as star freshman Trenton Bourguet has filled in admirably, passing for 11 touchdowns with just one interception in four games.
