Adam Schenk never looked like he would be leading the Valspar Championship until his final putt. Schenk made a 5-foot birdie for a 70. That gives him a one-shot lead over Jordan Spieth and Tommy Fleetwood as he goes for his first PGA Tour win. Spieth looked to be in control for so much of the round at Innisbrook. But with five birdies and an eagle came plenty of mistakes. Spieth took his fifth bogey of the day on the 18th hole for a 69. Fleetwood was just the opposite. He had 16 pars and two birdies for a 69.

Adam Schenk is leading the Valspar Championship and no one can accuse him of being rusty. Schenk is playing for the 10th consecutive week, a stretch that began in Honolulu with the Sony Open. His wife is expecting their first child in little more than a month, and the Indiana native is trying to get in as many tournaments as he can.

Marc Leishman is the leader after the first of three rounds at LIV Golf Tucson. Leishman made a series of lengthy birdie putts for a 65 at The Gallery. The course in the high desert north of Tucson is where the Match Play Championship was held in 2007 and 2008. Joaquin Niemann, Louis Oosthuizen and David Puig were a shot behind.

Ryan Brehm was having a solid round in the Valspar Championship. One swing made it a memorable round. Brehm made a hole-in-one on the 17th hole. That led to a 66 and gives Brehm a three-way share of the lead with Stephan Jaeger and Adam Schenk. Jordan Spieth is in the group one shot behind. Spieth only hit five fairways.

Golf's governing bodies want the golf ball to go a little shorter for the biggest hitters. The U.S. Golf Association and Royal & Ancient Golf have released a proposal for a new test that would require different golf balls for elite competition.

Scottie Scheffler is on another big run. That's how it was last year when he won four times in six starts and capped it off with the Masters. Now there seems to be a greater appreciation for what Scheffler is capable of doing. The 26-year-old from Dallas won The Players Championship by five shots. That's his second win in the last four starts. He nearly won at Bay Hill the week before. Scheffler is back to No. 1 in the world and his next two starts are tournaments he won last year.

Scottie Scheffler is back to No. 1 in the world thanks to a masterful performance at The Players Championship. Scheffler ran off five straight birdies around the turn at the TPC Sawgrass. He extended his lead to six shots at one point. Scheffler left all the drama to everyone else. He closed with a 69 to become only the third winner at Sawgrass with all four rounds in the 60s.

A long day at The Players Championship has ended with Masters champion Scottie Scheffler in the lead. Scheffler birdied his last hole and shot 65 to build a two-shot advantage over Min Woo Lee of Australia. Lee is the younger brother of U.S. Women's Open champion Minjee Lee. He had a 66 after a bogey on his final hole. It was a long day for Scheffler. Because of rain delays, he played 26 holes Saturday. It was an exciting day for Tom Hoge. He made the cut on the number and then set the TPC Sawgrass record at 62.

Storms have interrupted The Players Championship. Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Adam Svensson share the lead at 8-under par. They are among half the field that returns Saturday morning to finish the second round. Chad Ramey had a three-shot lead when he put two balls in the water on the island-green 17th for a quintuple bogey. Max McGreevy shot 89 to tie the record for the highest score on the Stadium Course. Jon Rahm missed all the action. He withdrew before the round with a stomach bug. Scottie Scheffler was three back and has a shot at going back to No. 1.

The TPC Sawgrass is one of the most unpredictable courses in golf. And it got a most unpredictable leaderboard after one round of The Players Championship. The leader is Chad Ramey, who had never seen the Stadium Course until this week. He shot a bogey-free 64 and leads by one over Collin Morikawa.

Tiger Woods’ former girlfriend wants to nullify a nondisclosure agreement she signed with golf’s biggest star in a legal dispute that involves allegations of an abrupt breakup after six years together. Padraig Harrington is headed for the World Golf Hall of Fame. The three-time major champion from Ireland is part of a six-member class that was elected Wednesday. The induction will be next year at Pinehurst, North Carolina, during the U.S. Open. Two-time major champion Sandra Palmer is the only other living player who was elected. The other inductees include the late Tom Weiskopf and the late Beverly Hanson, a three-time major champion in women's golf.

There's no escaping the division caused by LIV Golf, even at The Players Championship. The defending champion is not at TPC Sawgrass for the first time in nearly a decade. The runner-up and third-place finisher at the PGA Tour’s premier tournament also are now with LIV Golf.

Kurt Kitayama kept finishing one shot behind the game's best players. He beat them all at Bay Hill on Sunday for his first PGA Tour victory. Kitayama made a triple bogey on the ninth hole to let everyone back into the Arnold Palmer Invitational. And then he beat them with a clutch birdie putt on the 17th hole.

Kurt Kitayama is hanging on at Bay Hill. Kitayama recovered from an early double bogey and finished with a birdie for an even-par 72. That gives him a one-shot lead over defending champion Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland going into the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Scheffler finished with three straight birdies to overcome a rocky start. He shot 68. Hovland had a 66.
