Trevor Werbylo picked off right where he left off last fall on Monday afternoon.

The Salpointe Catholic junior shot a 3-under 32 while two teammates – Eric Duarte and Cole Harris – also finished below par, helping the Lancers beat host Rincon/University by 14 strokes at Dell Urich to open the season.

Werbylo was the Division II state runner-up as a sophomore, coming in six strokes behind Canyon del Oro's Chris Meyers, who is now golfing at Stanford. Catalina Foothills' Gavin Cohen, now a junior, finished third, five strokes behind Werbylo.

Monday's dual between Salpointe and Rincon was just a portion of the season-opening action going on around Southern Arizona on Monday. Click here to view more results.
