The Tucson Saguaros have quickly jumped to the top of the Pecos League in their inaugural season in the baseball independent league.

The Saguaros (10-2) have the best overall record in the 10-team league, and lead second-place Roswell (N.M.) by two games in the South Division.

Canyon del Oro High grad Ryan Retz (.422 average) and Michael Morris (.432) both have a team-high 19 hits. Davon Poole leads the team with two homers while Adam Urbania has a team-high 19 RBIs.

Steven Borkowski has a 2-0 record with a 2.11 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 17 innings to pace the pitchers.

The Saguaros are at White Sands (N.M.) through Wednesday. Tucson will then host Roswell at Kino Stadium from Thursday through Saturday. Sunday’s game between the two teams will be held in Bisbee.
