    Olympic gold medalist Wladimir Klitschko has joined Ukraine's fight against IOC plans to let some Russians compete at the 2024 Paris Summer Games. The former heavyweight champion has suggested in a video message that sports leaders will be accomplices to the war if athletes from Russia and its military ally Belarus can compete at the next Olympics. The International Olympic Committee wants to let Russians and Belarusians who have not openly supported the war to try to qualify for Paris.

      Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Sunday that allowing Russia to compete at the 2024 Paris Games was tantamount to showing that "terror is somehow acceptable".         Ilia Malinin won his first national men’s title, delivering a 177.38 free skate for a total score of 287.74 on the final day of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships. Malinin landed three quadruple jumps and retained his 10-point lead over second-place finisher Jason Brown.

          Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier captured another national pairs gold at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships on Saturday night with a spectacular free skate that scored them an overall season-best 227.97. The reigning world champions were forced to withdraw the night before last year's nationals when Frazier contracted COVID-19, denying them a chance to defend their 2021 title from their first season together. 

            Loïc Meillard beat his teammate Gino Caviezel to lead a Swiss 1-2 finish at a floodlit World Cup giant slalom. The pair stepped in to give the Swiss ski team a victory despite the absence of its standout performer as Marco Odermatt sat out the race to rest a sore knee.
