The University of Arizona soccer team made program history Monday.
The Wildcats will host an NCAA tournament game for the first time when Northern Colorado visits for a first-round contest at 6 p.m. Friday.
UA (12-5-2) will be making just its fourth tournament appearance ever.
“When you look at what (we’ve) accomplished this year, with a 12-win season, ranked in the top 25, with an RPI that reached as high as 13, to host the NCAA tournament is a massive accomplishment,” said UA coach Tony Amato.
The Wildcats finished tied for fourth in the Pac-12 with a 6-4-1 record.
If UA beats Northern Colorado (13-7-2), it will face either Santa Clara or Long Beach State in the second round.
