This story was produced for TENWEST Festival by #ThisIsTucson. Thank you for supporting the local organizations and events that support us!
From free booths and activities to mini workshops on glass blowing, worm composting and everything in between, you'll be able experience what it means to live local and have a positive impact on our community at Discover Local, the one day family-friendly kick-off event for the TENWEST Festival.
You'll learn about ways your family can connect to localism through micro-workshops focused on art, technology, sustainability and more.
There are a bunch of free activities planned, including Tucson Museum of Art's Second Sundaze Family Day, which includes free admission into the museum for Arizona and Sonora residents, as well as art-making opportunities, live music and other activities.
Micro-workshops cost $10 or free if you have a TENWEST pass. Topics include glass blowing, an urban hike, worm composting, a rammed earth workshop, low-tech water conservation, stories of roping and riding and desert resources.
Passes are available for $25 here. It'll get you into all 100 events during the ten-day festival, as well as all of the micro-workshops at Discover Local. You'll also receive special benefits like free scavenger hunt passes and prize opportunities.
Don't miss the event's finale at 2 p.m. where This is Tucson will star in a fun game show to challenge contestants' knowledge about Tucson. It's called the Old Pueblo Friendly Feud. It's free to attend and will end with local music.
