Carolyn Reece is a certified ChildLight Yoga instructor, teaching children how to practice yoga.

The Core at La Encantada is combining three of our favorite things — yoga, art and literacy — into one event for kids ages 4 to 8.

Young yogis and a caregiver (yeah, this one's for you, too) will participate in a 30-minute yoga session with Carolyn Reece, a certified ChildLight Yoga instructor and K-12 art teacher, construct a paper lantern that actually glows and take home a mini book to keep the fun going at home.

"YogArts is my own curriculum of blending literacy, art and yoga together," Reece said. "The class focuses on the family taking time together to grow and bond through yoga and art."

The take-home books are zines that Reece created to compliment the theme of the class and include mindful coloring pages for the family to complete together.

Advance registration is required so enough supplies are on hand. Cutting and gluing skills are required.
